Olori at the Elevate Africa Event – A Champion for African Fashion
It may be Black History Month in the UK, but as Africans, we make history every day—especially in the fashion industry. The Elevate Africa event, founded by Olori, is a celebration of African talent and the Buy Africa initiative. This initiative is about more than just fashion—it’s a movement aimed at empowering the continent by supporting African craftsmanship, and TUBO is proud to play a role in it.
Olori, a true TUBO Woman, embodies this movement perfectly. She is unapologetically bold, confident, and effortlessly elegant. Her three stunning outfits during the event showcased the fusion of tradition and modernity, reflecting the values we hold dear at TUBO.
Her first look, crafted from Kokobrite, a luxurious George fabric, symbolized the richness of African culture. This structured A-line design featured pleats and contemporary detailing, turning a traditional material into a statement of modern elegance. The vibrant colors and intricate craftsmanship celebrated the essence of Africa, proving that our heritage is as fashion-forward as any other global trend.
The second outfit was a masterful blend of Aso Oke with Plisole damask and crystal beads, balancing traditional aesthetics with modern silhouettes. The choice of textures, from the tactile feel of Aso Oke to the sheen of the beads, spoke to the depth of African fashion’s influence on the global stage.
For the gala night, Olori donned a regal Aso Oke top with laser-cut details, a perfect nod to her Yoruba roots while also embodying TUBO's commitment to creating timeless pieces. This dress wasn’t just a showstopper—it represented her heritage, leadership, and the significance of wearing African designs on a world stage.
As Olori emphasized in her speech, “When we wear African, we wear our pride, our resilience, and our future.” This call to support and elevate African-made products is more relevant now than ever, and it aligns with TUBO’s mission to celebrate the female form while also honouring our cultural roots.
At TUBO, we believe that every woman deserves to wear garments that not only fit her body but also her story. Each fabric we use, from the handwoven Aso Oke to the delicate Plisole, carries the weight of centuries of craftsmanship. The intricate techniques, the richness of each textile, and the cultural significance of these materials make every TUBO piece a true work of art. We are here to empower women to wear their culture, their pride, and their stories, whether they’re walking down the aisle or making waves at an international gala.
The Buy Africa initiative is about more than buying a product—it’s about supporting an ecosystem of creativity, innovation, and cultural preservation. By choosing to wear African, we’re investing in our own narratives and ensuring that African craftsmanship is recognized globally for its quality and richness.
As we celebrate Olori and her incredible journey at Elevate Africa, we’re reminded of the responsibility we carry as creators in this new era. Every TUBO woman inspires us, and together, we’re not just making clothes—we’re making history. After all, in a room full of art, a TUBO woman is always the masterpiece.
